Mid July!

The 2026 season at King Pacific Lodge has been spectacular!

Ocean bright Chinook!

Ocean bright Chinook!

The fishing has been quite strong and we are seeing great catches of both Chinook and Coho. This week we have had a mix of weather and have accessed all of our favourite Hot Spots. The west side of Athlone Island (Cheney, Cheney 2, Cape Swaine) has all been good. Chinook are generally in the 16-22lb size range right now and the largest to date has been 37lbs. Many Coho have been coming in as well. These are ranging 6-8lbs mostly however the largest so far is 13lbs. We expect Chinook fishing to continue to be excellent and the Coho will continue to increase in both size and numbers.

Typical depths of fishing have been in the 40-60 ft range and some have been reporting nice catches down as deep as 80-100ft. Our standard Flasher and Anchovy rigs have been working well. Spoons, such as Troy Hogg’s “Mongoose” (a green and silver spoon with a little spinner) have been working well run without a flasher too. White “Hoochies” with a flasher have also been producing.

Many guests have been taking advantage of the nice weather and ranging for Haibut and Ling Cod with great success. For these, we have been using our copper jigs which have been working well and easy to use.  These tasty fish have been in various sizes. Cape Mark, Ivory Island and McGinnes have been particularly good for Ling Cod.

We expect good weather to continue with moderate NW winds. This usually provides flat calm early morning fishing and a little chop in the afternoon. Many of our guests have been keeping an eye on the Windy.com site and selecting the wind gust feature for our area.

We still have some great dates available this summer if you are thinking of a trip! And, we are currently reserving space for 2027. Now is the time to inquire into your preferred time period for 2027!

Tight lines!

George
