August Action

Congratulations to KPL Fishing Guide, Hunter Gladstone! His first guided Tyee over 40 pounds!
We are well into a fantastic season here at King Pacific Lodge. The weather has been very favourable and allowing us to fish the entire Milbanke Sound area.
Generally, Salmon fishing has been very good with multiple chances at Chinook and Coho. Having said this, there have been times when Anglers have had to really work for their fish. And, not all expected tides have produced. Most Chinook have been ranging in the 15-25 pound range and it seems each trip there are multiple Tyee (Chinook over 30 pounds). Several notable Tyee include a 43, 42 and 61 pounds! Coho have been in good abundance with steady catches in the 9-13 pound range and the largest to date over 16lbs!

How many 11 year olds catch fish over 40 pounds?!
Hot spots have included all of our regular favourites. Cheney Point, Cheney 2, Cape Mark have all been producing. When weather permits, we have travelled off to McGinnes Island, about 40 minutes away and have had great action. This location is also a good bet for Ling Cod and Halibut.
Popular rigs for salmon have been a flasher – Anchovy, green and silver spoon or white “hoochie” either trolled by itself or with a flasher, or the larger herring rigs trolled without a flasher.
Overall, both guests and crew are enjoying the beauty of this area and observing much wildlife such as Humpback and Orca whales, Sea Otters and Eagles on a regular basis. Around the lodge, the atmosphere is very pleasant, the food amazing and many guess are commenting this is the best fishing lodge experience they have ever had!

Azien’s Sandwiches are a favourite on the water. Thank you Azien!
Recently, our friend Steve Smith helped us complete a beautiful display of Tyee Chinook for the main lounge. There are many examples of his work around the lodge and adding to the ambiance of this amazing place. Visit https://www.stevesmithnativeart.com/

As we move into the later part of August we will have more information on overall fishing. And, if you are still looking to join us towards the end of August or early September we still have space available! We are currently re-booking guests into their favourite time slots. This is a great time to investigate your preferred dates for 2027!
Tight Lines!
George
