Milbanke produces!

Fishing continues to be great at Milbanke Sound!
This last week produced excellent catches of both Chinook and Coho – albeit the Chinook a little harder to find. Many were taken in the 30’s,40’s and even a large 54 pounder!
Coho are increasing in size with several over 16 pounds now.
Hot spots have been Cape Mark, Cheney Point and The “Notch” – Baits have proven to be productive and many are choosing to run the standard flasher and “Hootchie” rigs with the popular UV, green & white and white combinations.
Depths continue to be productive at 35-45ft. Some anglers have been hitting fish a little deeper towards 100ft also.
We’re looking forward to seeing you on the water!
Thanks to all of those who have fished with us this season!

July 26 Report

July 26,
Fishing continues to be very good at Milbanke Sound!
Light NW winds have made for easy access to all of our fishing areas. Hot spots continue to be Cheney Point and Cheney 2. Cut plug herring continues to be the bait of choice. Anchovy trolled behind a dodger or flasher has also produced.
The bellies of most Chinook are holding 5-6 inch squids and our anglers are also showing success by using hootchies behind a flasher.
Chinook are coming in steady with typical weights between 22 and 26lbs. Coho are in high abundance and many are now topping over 12lbs.
We still have space running August 27-30 for this year. Expect awesome Coho and Chinook action!
We look forward to communicating soon!
George & LIsa
Congratulations on a nice catch David and Adison!

Chinook Rolling In!

July 20, 2014
Chinook are rolling in at West Sport Fishing’s King Pacific Lodge!
Popular spots include Cheney 1 and Cheney 2. Congratulations Rudy and Glenn with an awesome catch of four Chinook and four Coho this morning.
Cut plug baits trolled between 30 and 60ft produced for these long time friends. We’ll be seeing them back on the water later in the season!
Other anglers have been reporting similar catches and with Chinook topping over 30 pounds.
This is the place to be on the coast.
If you’re thinking of a trip for 2014 we have space available at the end of August. We expect excellent Chinook and Coho salmon fishing to continue into September.
2015 is filling in quickly. Our 2014 guests have first chance at 2015 dates and with our expansion only 8 additional spots will be available. Contact us today!

The season has begun!

The 2014 West Sport Fishing | King Pacific Lodge season has begun!

Our first two groups have experienced the comforts and quality of West’s King Pacific Lodge!  We’re located just minutes from the prime fishing grounds of Milbanke Sound and the fishing has been great!
Coho / Silver salmon have shown in excellent numbers and anglers are reporting as many as 20 per day. Chinook / King have been caught in good numbers and some beauties are coming in.
The weather has been co-operative and we have fished from Cape Mark to Cape Swain; the entire path of our regular hot spots. Cheney Point and Cape Swain have produced well and  fishing depths have ranged from 60 to 80ft. Anglers have been fishing with a combination of both bait and artificial lures including spoons and ‘hoochie’s’; the later being a little better mid day.
For those guests who are currently booked – we’re looking forward to seeing you!

Should you be thinking of a fishing trip for 2015 please contact us anytime – soon. Despite our expansion, space is already at a premium for next year!

Awesome Fishing 2014

Early reports are in! Expect incredible fishing in 2014!
Many of our fishing lodge friends in the north coast are reporting excellent catches of Chinook salmon. A small number of early run Coho are also showing.
Ocean conditions continue to be very favourable and the fishing is expected to continue to produce and improve.
“George, the early fishing is awesome – they keep piling in from offshore and are headed your way!”
While the runs of Pacific Pilchard seem to have reduced in numbers on the coast, the population of Pacific Herring have continued to improve. Huge schools of baitfish are being reported coast-wide and surely contributing to the healthy returns of salmon.

New Lodge!
New for 2014 is the WEST’s Milbanke Lodge facility. After reeling in the “Big One”, WEST’s guests can look forward to enjoying a refined and comfortable atmosphere. Formerly a private eco lodge, the “King Pacific Lodge” will now be operated by WEST Sport Fishing.

We still have excellent dates to fill during 2014. Should you still be looking for a fishing trip – we’d love to see you on the water! Contact us today!
